Privacy policy

Effective October 5, 2026

Rest in Him is a scripture and prayer app. It is built so that what you bring to it stays yours. This policy explains, in plain words, what the app stores, where it is stored, and what it never does.

The short version

What the app stores, and where

Everything below is created by you and stays under your control.

WhatExamplesWhere it is stored
Prayers and answerstitles, who a prayer is for (a name you type), notes, dates, "How God answered", photos you attach, praiseyour iPhone, and your private iCloud database if iCloud is on
Recordings of your voicethe promises you record in your own voiceyour iPhone, and your private iCloud database if iCloud is on
Saved promises and days with Godfavorites, the days you listened, prayed or said Amenyour iPhone, and your private iCloud database if iCloud is on
Settingstranslation, reminder times, widget style, sound mixyour iPhone only (shared with the app's widgets on the same iPhone)

iCloud. Rest in Him uses Apple's CloudKit to keep your prayers and recordings in sync across your own devices. They are stored in the private database of *your* iCloud account (container iCloud.app.ddtech.restinhim). Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy apply to that storage. The developer has no access to private iCloud databases. To keep your devices in sync, iCloud may send your iPhone silent background notifications; these carry no message from us.

The scripture in the app is bundled inside the app. Reading or listening does not send anything anywhere.

Microphone

Rest in Him asks for microphone access the first time you tap Record in "Record your own voice". It records only while you are recording a line, and only to make that recording. Recordings you keep are saved as described above; takes you discard are deleted. You can turn microphone access off at any time in the Settings app.

Photos

Face ID

If you turn on the prayer board lock, iOS checks your Face ID, Touch ID or passcode. The app is told only whether the check succeeded. Your biometric data never leaves Apple's secure hardware and is never available to the app.

Notifications

All of the app's notifications (the morning promise, tonight's session, prayer reminders, the trial reminder and the "On us" check-in) are scheduled on your iPhone by the app itself. No notification content is sent to us or to anyone else. Private prayers only ever show "Time to pray". You can change or turn off notifications in the app's own Settings or in the Settings app.

Purchases (Rest in Him Plus)

Rest in Him Plus is sold through the App Store. Apple processes your payment; we never receive your name, email address or payment details. The app checks your purchase with Apple's StoreKit on your iPhone to unlock Plus. App Store purchases are covered by Apple's privacy policy.

If you take a year of Plus "On us", a note that this iPhone has claimed it is saved in the iPhone's Keychain, so it is remembered if you reinstall. It never leaves the device.

Widgets

The app's widgets read your widget settings and saved promises from a storage area shared only between the app and its widgets on the same iPhone.

What Rest in Him never does

Keeping, exporting and deleting your data

Because we never receive your data, we cannot view, export or delete it for you; these controls are yours.

On Android

Where your things are stored

WhatWhere it is stored on Android
Prayers and answers, with photos you attachyour phone, and your phone's Android backup in your Google account
Recordings of your voiceyour phone, and your phone's Android backup
Saved promises and days with Godyour phone, and your phone's Android backup
Settings, sound mix, Rest in Him Plus status, the "On us" yearyour phone, and your phone's Android backup

Android backup. Rest in Him uses Android's built-in Auto Backup. When backup is on for your phone (Settings > Google > Backup), Android copies the app's database, settings, recordings and photos to your Google account, and restores them when you set up a new phone. The same files move when you transfer data directly to a new phone. Android encrypts the backup. On Android 9 and later with a screen lock, it is end-to-end encrypted with your lock. Google's privacy policy covers that storage. The developer cannot see your backup.

Android keeps up to 25 MB of backup for each app. Rest in Him keeps deleted items, and takes you replaced, out of the backup. If your recordings and photos come close to the limit, the app's Settings says so and suggests exporting.

Nothing goes to the developer. Rest in Him makes no network connections of its own. Scripture, soundscapes and music beds are all inside the app. (Android lists internet access for Rest in Him only because Google Play's billing library, which handles purchases, includes Google components that may send Google diagnostics about the purchase flow. See "Purchases" below.)

Microphone

Rest in Him asks for microphone access the first time you tap Record in "Record your own voice". It records only while you are recording a line, and only to make that recording. Takes you discard are deleted. You can turn microphone access off at any time in Settings > Apps > Rest in Him > Permissions.

Photos

To add a photo to a prayer or an answer, Rest in Him uses the Android photo picker. The app receives only the photo you pick. It does not ask for storage permission and cannot see the rest of your photos.

Prayer board lock

If you turn on the lock, Android checks your fingerprint, face or screen lock (BiometricPrompt). The app is told only whether the check succeeded. Your biometric data never leaves your phone's secure hardware and is never available to the app.

Notifications

The following are scheduled on your phone by the app itself:

No notification content is sent to the developer or to anyone else. Private prayers show only "Time to pray", and are hidden on the lock screen. On Android 13 and later, Rest in Him asks for notification permission only when you set up reminders (during setup, in Settings, or on a prayer) or start a free trial. It never asks at launch. You can change notifications in the app's Settings or in Settings > Apps > Rest in Him > Notifications.

Purchases (Rest in Him Plus)

Rest in Him Plus is sold through Google Play. Google processes your payment. The developer never receives your name, email address or payment details. The app asks Google Play on your phone which purchases your Google account owns, in order to unlock Plus. Google Play's billing library, built into the app for this, may send Google diagnostic information about the purchase flow. Google's privacy policy covers Google Play purchases and that information.

If you take a year of Rest in Him Plus "On us", a note that this phone claimed it is saved in the app's settings. Those settings are part of your Android backup, so the note returns if you reinstall. It never goes to the developer.

Widgets

The app's home-screen widgets are drawn on your phone from its own settings and bundled scripture. Nothing leaves your phone.
